I never realized how much I depend on my Garmin until it needed to be sent in. The connect button kept sticking. It is supposed to be delivered tonight. Yes I am stalking our front door.
So last Sunday I did my long run with Seth. We wanted to stick to a 10:30 pace for the 10 miles. Managed a 9:55. It felt great at the time. I feel like I've been paying for it since though. My right knee was hurting Monday. I stretched, Iced, rested it. Tuesday it felt better so I ran the 3 mile loop for work. It felt ok at the time. Ever since though I have been fighting weird calf pain since. Right now I have it taped. It hurts to walk stairs. I have to force myself to take a rest day and watch all the other runners at work go out. It's frustrating. I need to be healthy though because I have 3 races left this year.
The final training run for Fox Valley is this weekend. I'm excited to see all the runners go out. I may end up just taking it as a rest day. There's 3 weeks left before the race so I have time. I have learned over these 3 years to listen to my body and rest when it hurts. I still can't believe I did my first 5k 3yrs ago. What a crazy journey this has been. I never thought I would like running or be able to run more than a mile. Now my job is to run. Well my part time job.
I almost forgot to post about my last 5k. I ran the Graham's Sundae 5k. I had my fastest 5k ever. I didn't place but I did get ice cream so I call that a win

Summer is gone
So my commitment to weekly blogging fell by the wayside for a bit. That's what happens when life gets in the way I guess. My mom was in the hospital for almost a month. Most of my brain power and extra time was taken up with that. I was glad I was able to be there for her and my dad when they needed me. She is home and doing a lot better now which is great. I am finally trying to get back into the routine of life.
A lot happened over the summer. I ran my first mud run, Swampfoot. I think I did it in a decent time. Hoping to train and do it again next year. It was fun doing something like that with my husband and father in law. Our family also took a vacation for a week up to Traverse city. It was a lot of fun to just get away with the kids for a bit. I did manage one 3 mile run while we were there. Hey it's vacation.

The week we got back Noah had soccer camp all week which was great for him just prevented me from having the normal gym time.
I have been running. Not getting the miles I want but at least I'm running. I have a new job where I run with a group. It's great. I don't like running alone. Plus it's a little extra money I can contribute. I did run a 5k this past Sunday. The Graham's Sunday 5k. Official time was 27.23. That is my fastest 5k time to date. I'm proud of myself for pushing and she what I could really do.
Today is my oldest first day back to school. I feel like the summer flew by. I know he was ready to go back. This will help me get back into my routine also. I went to the gym this morning and that was the first time other than work that I've been there in probably a month. My goal is to stay injury free so I need to keep up the cross training. I have 3 more half marathons I am signed up for this year.
These pictures are the best. Both boys did a mile time trail and rocked it.
