I can't believe it's been 2 weeks since I've written everything. This summer has been busy already. I am trying to keep to a routine of running 3 days a week. So far it's been working. Tuesday is my easy run, Thursday is track workouts, and either Saturday or Sunday is the long run day. I have also started a new workout to throw into the mix. Did 2 sets of it yesterday and my arms feel it. I'm trying to get my body ready for Swampfoot, which is an obstacle course race. Every week that passes I get a little more nervous because I don't have upper body strength. Mud Sweat & Beers is our team name for Swampfoot. Not sure on the mud part of it but the beer I could live with.
I have all my crazy runner friends telling me I'm faster than I think I am. I know I can run faster it's more the fear of getting hurt again. I enjoy running so much I don't want to be out of commission again. I am hoping the cross training will help me not only get stronger but faster.
Last Tuesday I did a 3 mile run with Lifetime's run club. It was a nice easy pace run which I needed. The best part was I could leave the kids in the childcare while I ran. Then Thursday I did the first real track workout I've ever done. 800, 90 sec rest, 400, 2min rest and repeat 5x. I survived and at a decent pace. I'll see how this week goes with it. Saturday I did 4 miles at an almost 10min pace. It was hot and I felt like I had done 10 miles. It was all my body could take that day and I was ok with that.
Sunday we drove out to watch the husband and father inlaw and neighbors run Spartan. That race is crazy. The kids loved to watch them finish the last few obstacles. Then Noah ran the 1/2 mile race. He loved it. He's already planning his next event. I love his motivation and wanting to try things.
Wednesday night we will start the Dick Pond kids run club. He's so excited to go. Even Ethan wants to try running. I love that they push each other to try things. This year I can actually run next to them with the stroller. Last year I was to pregnant and it hurt to even walk at certain points.
Here's a few pictures from our track workout last week.
