Weekly thoughts

A week recap... I only ran Tuesday with work. I am slacking. oops. Thursday we had curriculum night so that was more important. Sometimes running has to take a back seat to family and that's ok. I do wish I would have a little more miles under my belt before this Sunday's half. I am at the point of what will happen will happen Sunday. I have decided I have a pace goal in my head but I'm not gonna stress myself out about it.
Anyway back to last week. We had the last big meeting before Last Chance Marathon and Fox Valley. I helped out with packet pickup Saturday morning for the awesome elite athletes trying to qualify for Boston. I feel so privileged every time I get to volunteer for things like this. I love when they thank us for being there. I want to thank them for being so great. The rest of my day was spent at football, soccer, and baseball with the family. Our Saturdays are packed full but I love it. I love being able to let my kids try out new things and be able to cheer them on. Sunday was spent running errands and stalking the Ironman website for friends. One friend didn't finish but wrote today that she will be back next year. Such an inspiration in the never give up category. Two other friends finished together. So sweet. Watching things like that makes me want to try for more and achieve more goals.
This coming up Saturday Noah and Ethan will run the kids marathon and I will be at the finish to hand them their medals. I am so excited for them. I also can't wait to see the other kids start and finish. And then Sunday morning I will run the Fox Valley 1/2 Marathon. It will be my 2nd ever half. I am looking forward to seeing my family at the finish. I just keep thinking back that just 3 years ago was my first 5k. I surprise myself every time I go out for a run still to this day.
